A clue finished and a glimpse of green

Despite numerous interruptions from Clyde the Cat, I managed to get a lot done today.  I finished Frolic Clue 8, and I am really hoping for the reveal next week. I am worried that my blues, aquas and berry colors are a bit too broad in both hue and saturation, so I may have to swap in some additional blocks. I won't know til I see how it all goes together.

That being done, I consulted the list of 2020 goals that I had put together over at the Planning Party.

Also it's RSC2020 time to get in gear, so I made 2 of the 8 wild and goosey units that I plan to do each month. Really, I should do more than that, but I figured baby steps are good. I made the center of a framed crumb star block in this month's color. And I started making tiny four patches for eventual use somewhere. There are usually 1.5" squares available for leaders and enders near my main piecing machine. 

I think these were leftovers from some other project, but I don't know what. I figure I can applique some hearts onto wide sidebars and make this a large Valentine's Day mug rug. 

And I thought color themed mini nine patches would be nice to use somewhere....so I finished up this as I was clearing off the sewing table.

Now, these are the ends of stripsets for Frolic. I am sewing them into bands, and will make them a strip on some denim zippered bags or something. I'd better just sit down and make them right away, rather than send these little things to the bin of random string things.

And two more scrappy mini nine patches, these can get used in an orphan quilt or something.

a 6.5" string got finished when I found it almost done in my main string bin.

And hey, I did use some strings this week. Strings happen fast during mystery quilt season so it's good to ramp up string consumption during this busy time.



Wonky courthouse blocks got underway.

When last seen, my crooked courthouse collection was left off like this:

I setup a dedicated string sewing station on my little desk from my childhood home. I was able to fit a bin of neutrals and bin of colors right in that top drawer. This week, I also cut my backing pieces to get started on the Covered in Love String blocks, maybe I will start those tomorrow. I think this block design is going to make some very interesting quilts.

Finally, I jotted down progress against the goals I came up with at the Planning Party. I haven't touched Selvedges yet, and probably won't get to that one in January. 

I feel good, like I have had a nice productive week. I am trying to come upstairs and sew a little bit before bed, at the very least, and I think this has helped. Also I am trying harder to keep the work surfaces from overflowing with clutter, so that I can actually make progress in small pockets of time.

Well, I have no idea what to make for dinner, and it's getting dark so it's time to log off.
