My most embarrassing UFO

I'm shaming myself here. I actually got this far on a Dear Jane quilt and it's been abandoned in a bin for many years. I was able to find a photo of the center out on the internet, because the original picture was taken several laptops and digital cameras ago, before cloud storage accounts! The triangles defeated me, but I really think I'm going to have to make time to focus and finish this one. At one point, I bought a nice border fabric for it, thinking I would do it without the triangles. But doing that scalloped border on Allietare this winter made me think I should just buckle down. That's not to say I will use all of Jane Stickle's patterns for the triangles....I may draft a few of my own. But first, I need life to calm down and to finish off a few other things. Not allowing myself to start anything new for a while. So, true confessions time, do you have any ufo that can surpass my embarrassment with this one?

Life in the Slow Lane

Had a busy weekend. Saturday we took our mom to lay a wreath on Dad's graves, and decorate the graves of other relatives. She's 91 and frail, and we saw so many other middle aged folks doing the same with their frail parents. Is this a custom in your family too? Sunday I had a holiday dinner out with my two quilting friends here. Between general busy-ness and colds that we don't want to pass around, it seems to be far too long between visits together. I hope we can quilt more together in 2016. On to Allietare, it's time for the Clue 3 Linkup ! I am loving these golds, they are so ITALIAN. I've been to Italy twice, and treasure the memories, but I grew up next door to my Italian maternal grandparents. Christmas traditions are rich in our culture. Friends randomly dropping by with trays of food because everyone has made too much! Fish and angel hair on Christmas eve, some folks still do the 7 different fishes. The Malocchio strikes my Allietare

Been slow going here for a while. I am a bit fatigued, as I think my vertigo has resurfaced, albeit at a fairly low level. The extra load it imposes on my brain leaves me with a dull ache in the back of my head, and lower than normal energy. Linking up! Part of me doesn't want this mystery project to end. I feel the same way I did on the last day of my trip to Italy in 2001. But if I were a superstitious woman, I would really think the Malocchio has it in for this quilt of mine. (nice shot of Assisi as the banner on that website by the way. Take a look). However, I come from sterner stuff (see some of my ancestors here, they were not women to be trifled with!) so I will soldier on. When my grandmother (on the right in this great photo) would return from one of her trips home to southern Italy, she would always bring back those red or golden horns to ward off the evil eye.
