From way down in the memory hole, a tiny UFO emerges

I have given up on the UFO spreadsheet approach as I still consider myself in mourning. Don't want to get mired down in too many gotta do items or deadlines. I am definitely using all my stitching as my therapy, period.  It's got to be soothing.  That's why I haven't sandwiched any quilt tops (what a chore!) lately!

I am trying to finish a pieced border on a UFO that will make a cozy winter throw, but my right heel is pretty inflamed from heelspurs or something and that's the foot I drive my sewing machines with. So, it's a period that begs for hand stitching.

Today I finished this little embroidery piece, it will be made up into a pin cushion with a pocket for scissors.

Definitely words to live by!  It's from a pattern by Jenny of Elefantz. Might have been free at one time. I used bolder colors than she usually has. I used to visit her blog and shop as an antidote to work stress before I retired, it gave me hope that there was a quiet, gentler life waiting for me.  And so there is, and I am thankful.

Next up is a seasonal item that I got started this afternoon.

I used a technique from a Crabapple Hill pattern that is the very next embroidery in my queue, that involves heat setting crayon tint to shade certain areas that then get outlined in back stitch.

I hope it turns out ok.

I look forward to stitching on this one as well:

I so love this time of year, after the humidity and heat start to fade. The colors are coming into the foliage, and my dying hostas are giving the last of their vitality to some very sweet visitors on my front walkway these last two mornings:

Yesterday they were escorted by a buck who may have eyes on their mama.  But today they came alone.

I don't mind the munching, it is so thrilling to watch them from my living room.

Thanks for your comment! I only respond from my computer, and since I retired, I don't spend as much time at my desk, but I will get back to you!
